Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri on 19th January 2018, proclaimed the Round 4th list of winning cities of National Smart Cities Challenge in New Delhi.
Hardeep Singh informed, that total nine cities of seven states have been included in the fourth & final round of ‘Smart Cities’ competition. Now, there are total 99 cities which have been added to the ‘Smart City Mission’.
Hardeep Singh, in a press conference, revealed that Silvassa from Dadar & Nagar Haveli has topped the list, followed by Erode (Tamil Nadu), Diu (Daman & Diu), Kavaratti (Lakshwadeep), Biharsharif (Bihar) Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh)and Bareilly, Moradabad, Saharanpur from Uttar Pradesh.
Hardeep Singh also informed the 100th proposed city, Shillong (Meghalaya) has been given more time to resubmit its proposal as it failed to make it in time.
The selected nine smart cities in the 4th round, have proffered with an investment of Rs 12,824 crores on 409 projects.
