Guwahati now gets India’s first railway station run by solar power. The solar power project of instituting solar panels was commissioned last year in April 2017.
Guwahati railway station has been installed with around 2352 solar modules with a capacity of generating 700 kwp, set up over the roof of the Solar panels at the roof-top solar power plant.
Guwahati solar-powered railway station main aim is to reduce carbon footprint as well as cut down power costs significantly. The solar power plant will save Rs 67 lakh worth of electricity.
According to the Indian Railways, Guwahati solar-powered railway station project cost is estimated to be Rs 6.7 crores.
Around 6.3 lakh kg carbon dioxide emissions have been cut off between 12th April 2017 last year to 10th May 2018 this year.
Guwahati solar-powered railway station, with an average power generation capacity per day is 2048 KWh, the solar panels to date have generated a total of 7,96,669 KWH of electricity.
