India’s first Central Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology is being established in Gujarat to give an uplift to the chemical industry
Union Minister of State (MoS) for Chemical and Fertilizers, Mansukh Mandaviya made this announcement on 19th August 2019.
MoS Mansukh Mandaviya also announced that Central Government is also planning to set up Plastic Waste Management Centre in Ahmedabad to find out solutions to systematic segregation and recycling of plastic waste.
Chemical Engineering and Technology (CICET) will be set up either at Gujarat's Ahmedabad or Surat.
Chemical Engineering and Technology will facilitate the chemical industry with research and innovations.
CICET will also look after chemical industries located in Gujarat’s Vapi, Ankleshwar and Vatva in Valsad, Bharuch and Ahmedabad districts.
Also, a skill development center will start functioning at Bhavnagar, Gujarat.
Apart, Central Institute of Plastic Engineering & Technology (CIPET) is to be set up at a cost of ₹54crore in Valsad, Gujarat for the benefit of tribal students and the plastic industry. Its hostel is built at a cost of Rs 31 crore.
