Best MLA Awardee Sri Jagdish Mukhi has been appointed as new Governor of Assam
Best MLA Awardee Sri Jagdish Mukhi has been appointed as new Governor of Assam as President Ram Nath Kovind announced new governor for five states.
Jagdish Mukhi has been taking over from Banwarilal Purohit, who has been appointed by the government of Tamil Nadu.
BJP has formed a Government in Assam for the first time.
Jagdish Mukhi was previously holding the important ministerial position in Delhi government and also served as the leader of the opposition for almost 10 years.
Besides the appointment, Jagdish Mukhi was the Lieutenant governor of Andaman and Nicobar islands a post he held since August 2016.
