National Beekeeping & Honey Mission(NBHM) : Launch, Objectives and Significance benefits
The scheme was announced as the part of the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Package in 2020 and is implemented by the National Bee Board (NBB) under the
Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer's Welfare ,Government of India and is approved for 3 years.
Objectives of NBHM
*Empower women via beeKeeping.
*Employing IT tools in BeeKeeping.
*Making beekeeping a source of income & employment.
*Developing traceability system for traceability of the source of honey & few other beehive products.
*Encourage agri-startups in beekeeping/honey production.
*To Gain benefits by the production of good quality of Beehive products such as - Royal jelly,Bee pollen,Beeswax and Bee venom etc.
*The schemes aims the overall development of Beekeeping in India.
*Use of various technologies for good & high quality production of Beehive products.
Significance of BeeKeeping
*BeeKeeping has several Benefits for the economy & environment & farmers in general.
*Helpful in sustainable development of the environment & agriculture.
*Helps in improving the standard of farmers.
*Bees play a very important role in Pollination.So,they are very important for environment in several ways.It is a source of livelihood.
