Rashtriya Gokul Mission is an initiative launched to develop & conserve the indigenous bovine breeds for improving the milk production &
Productivity in a scientific manner,that includes superior nutrition & farm management .
The mission was launched in 2014 under the National Programme for Bovine Breeding & Dairy Development during 12th Five Year Plan.
*Its Objective is to improve & increase milk production & productivity and
*For natural service, distribute disease free high genetic merit bulls.
*To develop & conserve the Indigenous breeds and use of elite indigenous breeds like Gir,Rathi,Deoniand few other.
*To develop indigenous breeds ,various cattle development centres were established ,known as 'Gokul Grams'.
*Various awards are initiated for encouraging farmers like Kamdhenu award , Gopal Ratna Award.
*Development of an e-market portal for connecting the breeders & farmers and this portal was named as 'E-Pashu Haat-Nakul Prajnan Bazaar'.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugarated these under Rashtriya Gokul Mission:-
*TVF Lab at Animal Sciences University,Patna.
*Semen Station with state-of-the-art facilities in Purnea,Bihar.
*Sex sorted semen in artificial insemination by Baroni Milk Union in Begusarai district of Bihar.
