Within one month of the launch of PM JAY, one lakh people got the benefit of this ambitious scheme. Nadda tweeted in Hindi, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Prime Minister Jan Swasthya Yojana on September 23, within one month, one lakh people have taken advantage of the scheme. We are committed to the benefit of this scheme to the person of the last stage of society in the coming times.
The scheme is being described as the world's largest health insurance program. It is estimated that 55 million people in the country are getting medical benefits. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (formerly Ayushman India) across the country from Jharkhand on September 23. Under the scheme, health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh annually has been provided to 10 million poor families of the country. There is no limit on the size and age of the family in the plan.
Two weeks after the start of the scheme, Indu Bhushan, CEO of National Health Agency, had said that 38 thousand people availed the scheme. Under the scheme, more than 9,000 hospitals have been included in the country. 32 States and Union Territories of the country have signed a MoU with the Central Government to implement the scheme. At present, Telangana, Odisha, Delhi, and Kerala have not adopted this plan.
