The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) was launched by the Prime Minister on 12th April 2005.
Its aim was to provide accessible, affordable and quality health care to the rural population, especially the vulnerable groups.
The mission aims to deliver constant support to those who contribute to the social determinants of health. Basic objectives for the implemention of NRHM are:
*A Reduction in infant mortality rate and maternal mortality rate
*To ensure population stabilization
*To prevent and control communicable and non-communicable diseases
*And to upgrade AYUSH(Ayurvedic Yoga Unani Siddh and Homoeopath) for promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
