The Government of India has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Trusts to provide development support in 8 worst Naxal-affected districts in Chhattisgarh.
The 8 worst Naxal-affected districts are covered under Transformation of aspirational districts Programme of NITI Aayog. It includes Kanker, Rajnandgaon, Bijapur, Bastar, Kondagaon, Dantewada, Narayanpur and Sukma of Chhatisgarh State.
Under the MoU, Tata Trusts will provide technical and human resource assistance to Government to the special development programme. It will also help the government in conducting surveys and providing a ground level and technical support in raising living standards of citizens and ensuring inclusive growth for all.
NITI Aayog has launched this programme in January 2017 with an objective to briskly and effectively transform some of most underdeveloped districts of India. Till over 100 districts from across India are chosen to implement the ambitious programme.
The programme envisions the speedy development of selected districts on basis of a composite index based on health and nutrition, education, financial inclusion, skill development, agriculture and water resources and basic infrastructure.
The programme also focuses closely on improving peoples ability to participate fully in the burgeoning economy. It seeks to bring these indicators in selected districts at par with the better performing districts in India.
