Anti Terrorism Day Observed on 21st MayDetails, Aim, History, Celebrations

The Anti Terrorism Day is observed on 21 May every year in India, to make the people aware of the anti-social act of terrorism and its impact on human suffering and lives.

The Anti Terrorism Day main aim is to spread the message of peace and humanity and to increase the awareness among people about these terrorist groups and how they plan to strike the terror.

The Anti Terrorism Day also aims to promote unity among the people by planting the seed of unity among the people and also to provide education and training to the youngsters this will prevent them from joining different terrorist groups.

Anti Terrorism Day History

The National Anti Terrorism Day was officially announced after the assassination of India's seventh Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on 21st May 1991. India’s Former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi was killed in Tamil Nadu in a campaign by the terrorist. Then, under PM V.P. Singh government, the center has decided to observe 21st May as Anti Terrorism Day.

Anti Terrorism Day Celebrations

On Anti Terrorism Day schools, colleges and universities organise debates & discussion on the dangers of terrorism and violence.

Many mass education programs are held to highlight the ill effects of terrorism and its aftermath.

India's Central Government and the State Government also organises marches and parades to aware people about the effects of terrorism.
