Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi or B.V. Doshi is a renowned Indian architect. He became the first Indian to win Pritzker Architecture Prize-2018, which is equivalent to a Nobel Award in architecture.
B.V. Doshi (aged 90 years old) will fly Toronto in May 2018 to receive the Prize and will address public with a lecture.
The Pritzker jury recognizes B.V. Doshi’s exceptional architecture as “serious, never flashy or a follower of trends”. Over a 60-year career, Doshi has built private houses, banks, theatres, schools and low-income housing projects.
As per the Pritzker jury statement, B.V. Doshi’s career of over 60 years, he has built over hundred of outstanding buildings as he has realized his commitment and his dedication to his country and the communities.
B.V. Doshi has served as an influencer teacher, and the outstanding example he has set for professionals and students around the world throughout his illustrious career is highly notable.
