Indigenously development lightweight Glide bomb has been successfully tested in Chandipur, Odisha. The development marks a major milestone in developing such weapons.
The lightweight Glide bomb released from the aircraft and guided through precision navigation system reached the targets greater than 70 km range with high accuracies.
A total of three tests with different release conditions and ranges were conducted successfully.
Director General Missiles and Strategic System of DRDO Mr. G Satheesh Reddy termed the test as a major milestone in India’s indigenous capabilities to develop guided bombs.
The lightweight Glide bomb has been developed by the Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) as well as other laboratories of the DRDO and the Indian Air Force.
