India to host the next UN global wildlife Summit On the Migratory Species in 2020-IANS, (CMS COP 13)

United Nation Environment Programme (UNEP) has announced that India will host the next UN global wildlife conservation and international species protection conference in 2220.

CMS (COP12) was held from 23-28 October 2017, which was attended by over 500 delegates from more than 120 counties. The theme of the Conference was Their Future is Our Future-Sustainable Development for Wildlife and People.

The announcement was made during the 12th meeting of the conference of the Parties 12 (COP12) to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animal (CMS) in Manila, in Philippine.

CMS COP is a triennial summit that brings together States through which migratory animals pass through. It lays down the legal foundation for internationally coordinated conservation measures for these animals. CMS COP is held once in three years.
