The Government has de-affiliated around 400 Industrial Training Institute (ITIs) following quality inspection administered by it found the institutes lacking the requisite infrastructure and trainers for imparting vocational training to students.
The Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajesh Agarwal has shared the information.
The government’s vocational Training programmers are administrated by ITI, which cater to about 36 percent of the 7 million people enrolled in the various training programme in India.
There are about 13,000-odd industrial training institute in the country.
Around 5, 100 ITIs have been graded till now under the star rating system and are presently in the process of getting inspected through third parties and certification assessment.
