INS Arihant goes Strategic nuclear Ship with Russian ATV Project
Government launched INS Arihant Ship Submarine Ballistic Nuclear for delivering nuclear weapons with help of Russian ATV project
Government has launched a strategic nuclear submarine INS Arihant and becomes the fourth country to have a capability of delivering nuclear weapons by aircraft, ballistic missiles and submarine launched missiles.
Unlike India, Russia, United States and China also have these triumvirate nuclear weapons.
This nuclear submarine is capable of carrying nuclear ballistic missiles and belongs to Submersible Ballistic Nuclear (SSBN).
SSBN was made with the help of Russia ATV Project
This nuclear was made with the help of Russia under ATV project started in 1980s.
It will be armed with K-15 sagarika missiles with a range of 750 km and later with the help of DRDO it will be armed with K-4 missiles at a range of 3,500 km.
This vessel was launched by former PM Manmohan Singh in 2009.
This missile helps to strike back after being hit by nuclear weapons first and it is important for India for 'No-first-use' policy.
