The Central Government has launched a scheme known as UDAI for the regional flight air subsidies.
Under this scheme, government will provide subsidies to regional airlines of half of the seats at discounted rate.
The government will provide funds from the domestic airlines by charging a small amount from them.
Regional airlines can benefit the services of airlines flying for less than 150 km and the subsidy will be provided amounting to Rs.2,350 and Rs.5,100 per seat for three years.
The subsidy will be provided through a process by which if multiple airlines will ask for financial support from regional routes, the government will provide subsidy to the airlines asking for least financial support.
If there is only one airlines asking for support then the subsidy will be calculated on different parameters.
This process named reverse bidding process will start from November 2016 and will happen twice a year.
