The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) has called off it's over 100-days old shutdown in Darjeeling hills of West Bengal on 26 September 2017.
The decision was taken after Union Home Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh made and appealed to GJM withdraw the strike and asked the Union Home Secretary to convene an official-level meeting to discuss all related issue.
The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha was spearheading the agitation for a separate state of Gorkhaland.
The administration decided to lift the restrictions on the use of internet services with normalcy returning to the Darjeeling hills following this move which was imposed on 18 June 2017.
