Literary critic and Urdu author Abdul Qavi Desnavi’s 87th birthday on 1st November 2017, Google doodle honored the linguist and critic by designing its logo in the Urdu-styled script.
The doodle also portrays Desnavi while at work. Guest artist Prabha Mallya tried a few concepts before landing on the final design
Urdu author Abdul Qavi Desnavi was born on 1st November 1930 in Bihar Desna village, Desnavi played a powerful role in the evolution of Urdu literature and academic thought in India.
In the course of a literary career that spanned five decades, he authored a vast body of Urdu works covering fiction, biographies, poetry, and anthologies.
Abdul Qavi Desnavi’s most famous works include Sat Tahriren, Motala-E-Khotoot Ghalib, Talash-E-Azad, and his magnum opus, the biographical Hayat-e-Abul Kalam Azad, celebrating the life of freedom fighter Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
Abdul Qavi mentored some of India’s finest Urdu poets and writers such as Javed Akhtar and Iqbal, at a personal level Masood.
