Google celebrating Asima Chatterjee 100th birthday with Doodle

 

 

First Indian woman Scholar in Chemistry Asima Chatterjee's 100th birth anniversary celebration at Google Doodle

Asima Chatterjee was known for her work in Organic Chemistry. She received a Doctorate of Science in 1944. At that time in India no other woman taking such level of research interest in Organic Chemistry field.

Asima Chatterjee's doodle is a mark of a salute from Google to woman power who worked hard in their time to break social taboos and boundaries.  

Asima Chatterjee became the first woman of India to be appointed as general president of the Indian Science Congress.

Padma Bhushan Asima Chatterjee died in 2006 on 22nd November in her home city Kolkata.

 Asima Chatterjee was famously known for her work on medicinal properties of plants. She continued developing drugs for Epilepsy, Malaria etc. diseases.    

Google paid tribute to this great Indian lady on her birth anniversary with using the famous doodle.
