World Food Safety Day is celebrated every year on 7th June around the world to promote food handling, preparing and storing it n a way to best reduce the risk of individuals becoming sick from foodborne illnesses.
World Food Safety Day was first-ever adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in December 2018.
This year in 2019, World Food Safety Day was celebrated for the first time.
World Food Safety Day-2019, the theme is "Food Safety, Everyone's Business".
World Food Safety Day encourages food safety which is a key to achieving several UN Sustainable Development Goals and is a shared responsibility between governments, producers, and consumers.
On the World Food Safety Day, Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) has organized several events in raising awareness regarding food safety.
Note: Also, World Food Day is celebrated globally on 16 October to mark the foundation of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations in 1945.
