Former Chief Minister of Bihar, Lalu Prasad Yadav along with former Bihar CM Jagannath Mishra, in the Fodder scam fourth case of ‘Dumka Treasury’, got convicted in a special CBI court of Ranchi on 24th March 2018.
RJD Chief, Lalu Prasad Yadav in his fourth case of the Fodder scam, has been proved guilty which concerns the corrupt withdrawal of Rs 3.13 crore from Dumka treasury by Animal Husbandry Department between December 1995 and January 1996.
However, Former Bihar CM Jagannath Mishra was acquitted. This is the second case in which Mishra has been acquitted.
CBI judge Shiv Pal Singh, in a special CBI court, awarded Lalu Prasad Yadav with two separate sentences of 7 years each, making a total of 14 years of imprisonment which he has to serve consecutively.
CBI judge Shiv Pal Singh, also imposed fine of Rs 30 lakh each for two sentences making a total of Rs 60 lakh which in turn if not paid he has to serve another 1 additional year in jail.
RJD Chief, Lalu Prasad has been awarded 7 years imprisonment and fined Rs 30 lakhs under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections and another 7 years under the Prevention of Corruption Act with a fine of Rs 30 lakhs.
RJD Chief, Lalu Prasad, is currently serving jail imprisonment in Birsa Munda Central Jail of Ranchi, since December 2017 after his conviction in two other fodder scam cases.
RJD Chief, Lalu Prasad, will have to face the fifth fodder scam (Doranda treasury) case in the coming months. The case relates to fraudulent withdrawal of around Rs. 47.5 crores from the Doranda Treasury in the early 1990s.
