India’s E-commerce Giant Flipkart Partners with Travel Firm MakeMyTrip- Details, Purpose, Significance

India’s e-commerce giant Flipkart has tied a partnership with Indian online travel portal MakeMyTrip on 5th April 2018 in New Delhi.

Flipkart & MakeMyTrip collaboration aims to allow customers for booking domestic flight tickets and other travel services directly through the e-commerce Flipkart's portal.

The two companies’ partnership will start up with domestic flight bookings in the coming few weeks, later it will initiate booking of hotels, bus and holiday bookings.

Flipkart Chief Executive Kalyan Krishnamurthy informed in a statement that the deal with MakeMyTrip will help Flipkart Online Services widen the range of services it offers, and further its goal of being "a one-stop destination for all digital transactions online,"

MakeMyTrip Chief Executive Officer Deep Kalra informed in a statement that the partnership will Flipkart will give MakeMyTrip access to Flipkart's large consumer base and further open up the online travel market in a significant way.

The partnership between both the companies comes at a time when India's competition in e-commerce market is increasing day by day with companies like Flipkart, Amazon.com, Paytm and Ola, those who are gaining moment with added services.
