Meet three Marshals of India Sam Manekshaw, K.M. Cariappa and Arjan Singh contribution in winning war for India

Indian Army has two Field Marshals Sam Manekshaw and General K.M. Cariappa while Indian Air Force has only one Field Marshal Arjan Singh. Indian Navy has a post for the similar rank of Field Marshal as Admiral of Fleet but no one get this honor from Indian Navy till date.

About Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw

General Sam Manekshaw was the first Army officer who received Field Marshal honor for contribution in Indo-Pak war in 1971 leading towards the formation of independent country Bangladesh. Sam Manekshaw was 8th general of Indian Army bu the first general to receive Field Marshal honor.

About Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa

Indian Army first Commander In Chief K.M. Cariappa second and last army officer who received Field Marshal honor in 1986. He passed away after 6 years of getting the honor in 1993.  

About Field Marshal Arjan Singh

Field Marshal Arjan Singh received Field Marshal honor in 2002 for his glorious contribution in Indian victory over Pakistan in 1965 Indo-Pak war. Arjan Singh was the only Air Force officer who received the Field Marshal honor in Indian Air Force.

Field Marshal officer carry additional fifth star as an honor for their leadership and victory for the country in the war over an enemy.
