Central Home Secretary Rajiv Gaba launched the online portal 'E-Sahaj' on September 18, 2018. This platform works to provide security clearance to private companies. This portal will help individuals and private companies to submit applications and view their status online.
With the introduction of the online portal, the process of security clearance can be kept in sharp, transparent and monitored. It is also expected to ease the rest of the other processes. This will enable people to access online applications and documents and make timely decisions.
e-Sahaj portal will help in balancing the compulsions of national security, facilitating business and promoting investment in the country.
The Home Ministry is the nodal authority to give security clearances to companies, bidders and individuals in some sensitive areas.
The approval of the Home Ministry is necessary for permission of license, permit, contract etc.
The Ministry has approved about 1,100 cases of security clearance in the last one year.
Even if the given timeline is 90 days, the Ministry of Home Affairs attempts to give a decision in the matter of security clearance within 60 days.
The average time for the year 2018 is 53 days. Efforts are being made to reduce this time even further.
With the introduction of the online portal, the process has been standardized, resulting in a fast, transparent and easy to monitor the process. Various officials can access online applications and documents and make timely decisions.
