Arun Kumar is new DGCA Director General: Details, Service, Career

Modi 2.0 Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appointed Arun Kumar, Additional Secretary, and Financial Advisor, to Union Ministry of Civil Aviation as the new Director General (DG) in Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in rank and pay of Additional Secretary.

Arun Kumar is 1989 batch IAS officer of Haryana cadre.

Arun Kumar is currently serving as additional secretary in Union Ministry of Civil Aviation and will now be holding a full-time charge as Chief of aviation regulator DGCA.

Arun Kumar was heading DGCA as an additional charge between 31 May 31 and 9 July 2019.

Arun Kumar will succeed 'B S Bhullar' who was appointed as full-time DGCA chief in December 2016.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)

DGCA is a regulatory body in the field of Civil Aviation primarily dealing with safety issues. It is headquartered in New Delhi with regional offices in various parts of India.

DGCA is an attached office of Union Ministry of Civil Aviation which is responsible for the regulation of air transport services to or from or within India and for enforcement of civil air regulations, air safety, and airworthiness standards.

DGCA is also responsible for coordinating all regulatory functions with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
