Union Minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Harsh Vardhan unveiled the launch of four new schemes for bright young researchers and scientist on 24th January 2018 in New Delhi.
The Distinguished Investigator Award (DIA) scheme has been introduced to acknowledge and reward Principal Investigators (PIs) of Department of Science and Technology (DST) projects that have executed exceptionally well.
The DIA scheme will focus to reward best PIs of completed projects and also encourage ongoing PIs to perform their best.
The DIA scheme will effectively increase the productivity of research undertaken and overall efficiency of research ecosystem.
The DIA scheme will be a one-time career award designed specifically to cater younger researchers or scientists who have not received any other prestigious awards or fellowships.
Under DIA scheme, the awards granted bears a fellowship of Rs.15,000 per month with an optional research granted for 3 years, based on the associate review of project proposal acceded.
The DIA scheme, instituted by SERB of DST is proposed to get implemented by February 2018.
