Union Minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Harsh Vardhan unveiled the launch of four new schemes for bright young researchers and scientist on 24th January 2018 in New Delhi.
The Overseas Visiting Doctoral Fellowship scheme will focus to augment international scholarship of Indian research students with a view to inspire a set of globally trained manpower.
The OVDF scheme will provide opportunities for research students to access top class research facilities in academia and laboratories across the world.
The OVDF scheme will cater fellowships for up to 100 PhD students admitted in the Indian institutions to take up training in honorable overseas universities and institutions, of repute working in fields of importance for the country for at least 12 months during their doctoral research.
The selected students will be paid a monthly fellowship equivalent to 2,000 US Dollar and one-time preparatory allowances of Rs. 60,000 to cover expenses such as visa fee, airport transfer charges, medical insurance and airfares.
The OVDF scheme, instituted by SERB of DST is proposed to get implemented by February 2018.
