Union Cabinet approved the release of instalment of Dearness Allowance to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief to Pensioners.
50.68 lakh employees will be benefited from this scheme where their basic pay will be paid 2% of their pay as Dearness Allowance.
The 54.24 lakh pensioners will also be benefitted from this scheme.
Both Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief would impact exchequer account to Rs.5622.10 crore per annum.
During this financial year 2016-17, they would be paid Rs.3748.06 crore which will be applicable for 8 months i.e. from July 2016 to February 2017.
