Indian Army Ex-Chief of Army Staff, Dalbir Singh was born on 28th December 1954 in Bishan village of Jhajjar district, Haryana.
Dalbir Singh Suhag’s grandfather was also a soldier. His father, Ch. Ramphal Singh, was a Subedar with the Indian Army who had taken part in the 1971 Indo-Pak War. Dalbir Singh Suhag was commissioned with the Gorkha Rifles in 1974 and become one of the brightest officers of his batch.
Dalbir Singh was commissioned into the 4th battalion of the 5 Gorkha Regiment on 16 June 1974. He was an instructor at the Indian Military Academy and served as a Company commander during Operation Pawan in Jaffna, Sri Lanka.
Dalbir Singh has completed various Indian and foreign courses including LDMC at College of defense Managment in 1997–98, National Defence College in 2006.
On 14 May 2014, Dalbir Singh Suhag became 26 Chief of the Army Staff of Indian Army.
Ex-General Dalbir Singh Suhag won Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal.
On 17 August 2018, the United States Government Awarded the Legion of Merit (Degree of Commander) to Dalbir Singh Suhag at Pentagon, Washington for exceptionally meritorious service as chief of the army staff Indian Army.
