Indian Railways new scheme to book tickets via SMS 139 from mobile number

The Indian Railways has been offering services to promote digital transactions on smartphones and other normal handset.

The Indian Railways earlier started the ticket booking system online through IRCTC website but now Indian Railways has started a new service to book ticket by just sending an SMS.

Register mobile number with www.irctc.co.in and send SMS to 139

To book the ticket by SMS send 139 from the mobile phone which does not require any Internet connection.

Train passengers can book tickets through a simple text messaging based SMS facility or a menu based dialling service USSD.

Firstly, the passenger needs to register the mobile number on www.irctc.co.in

The simple process requires sending of information to book the ticket like date of journey, number of passengers, train number.

The number to be registered with the bank account must be provided to the Indian Railways website.
