Roald Amundsen expedition is first expedition to reach the South Pole

In the year 1897, Roald Amundsen was the first mate on Belgium expedition that was first ever to winter in Antarctic.

At the age of 15, Roald Amundsen decided to make career on exploration and since then he studied various sailing techniques, steam navigation and terrestrial magnetism.

Roald Amundsen learn lessons on survival in extreme cold region

Roald Amundsen also learn various lessons on how to survive in cold conditions for Eskimos and was taught how to wear animal’s skin instead of heavy furs.

In the year 1928, five of Roald Amundsen’s crewmates disappeared while flying a rescue mission in arctic.

No bodies or wreckage was found and it was assumed that plane has been crashed.

The Royal Norwegian Navy used an unmanned submarine to search for the wreckage of Roald Amundsen’s plane.
