ECMO treatment help recover patient from cardiac arrest, strokes

ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygeneration) technique for functioning of damaged heart care, cardiac arrest and lungs care

Extracorporeal Membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a technique used to describe the extracorporeal support that focused on the function of oxygenation.

A membrane Oxygenator is an equipment which acts as a lung which provides oxygen into the blood.

ECMO circuit acts as an artificial heart and lung for the patient using ECMO therapy

ECMO does the function of natural heart and lungs which allows the patient to rest while the natural healing takes place in the organs.

ECMO is frequently instituted which can be performed under local Anaesthesia.

ECMO provides long term support ranging from 3-10 days and aims to allow time for intrinsic recovery of lungs and heart.

ECMO is used when lungs or heart stops working but it depends on the reason why the lungs or heart stop working.

If the person is fit and then heart or lungs stop working then ESMO technique is successful while if many organs stop working then it is difficult to save the life.
