First time iSRO signs two contracts for industry-based spacecraft

 

 

Indian Space Research Organisation signs first contract for an industry based association based in Bengaluru

The contract was signed between the director of ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), M. Annadurai and Alpha Design Technologies Ltd.

ISRO, for the first time, will be outsourcing the entire satellites to the industry and fir that it has purchased sub-system for its supplies.

Contract includes the assembly, integration and Testing of two navigation satellites in 18 months

After two years, the association will make spacecraft of 300-500 kg category a year with an expected buyback from ISRO and for export, Alpha design.

Alpha is a defence manufacturing contractor which supply components to ISRO’s programmes.

The second spacecraft will be made by the entire ISRO’s facilities and from the second year, the association will four to five satellites per year.

In September, two space navigation satellites will be the first lot to be outsourced.
