Under-nutrition Malnutrition different aspects of Global Hunger Index

According to Food and Agriculture Organisation of United Nations, hunger refers to the consumption of food that is not sufficient to provide the minimum amount of diet which is required for a healthy and productive life.

Hunger also means food deprivation, under nutrition which is not sufficient for the physical activity level.

Under-Nutrition deficiency due to illness, Malnutrition-mixture of Under-nutrition and over-nutrition

Under-nutrition means deficiency relating to protein, vitamins and minerals.

Under-nutrition occurs due to inadequate consumption of food by quality or quantity or due to poor utilisation of nutrients due to illness or infections.

Malnutrition refers to under nutrition and over-nutrition that means consuming too much calories in relation to energy requirements.

Global Hunger Index reflects both the aspects of hunger relating to malnutrition and under nutrition.
