World AIDS Vaccine Day is celebrated every year on 18th May around the world to make people aware of HIV vaccine and educate them against HIV / AIDS.
World AIDS Vaccine Day is also known as "HIV Vaccine Awareness Day".
Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV infects cells of the immune system in the body which leads to a life-threating condition or AIDS.
Acquired: This condition means that the person is infected with the virus.
Immuno: Virus affects a person's immune system.
Deficiency: This means that the person's immune system has become weak and is unable to function properly.
Syndrome: It is possible that due to the weakened immune system, the person with AIDS increases the risk of other diseases.
In 1981, AIDS was first reported in the United States and since then becomes a worldwide epidemic. Also, it is not necessary that a person who is HIV positive should have AIDS.
