World Asthma Day Celebrations On 7th May 2019 Theme, Details, Aim, History
World Asthma Day is celebrated every year on the first Tuesday of May month, all over the globe. This year in 2019, it falls on 7th May 2019.
World Asthma Day main aim is to increase the awareness about this disease among the people. May month is also known as Asthma Awareness Month.
On World Asthma Day, Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) organizes this annual event to create awareness and promote ways to cure the disease around the world.
World Asthma Day 2019 theme is “STOP For Asthma”.
About Asthma
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the airways.
Some causes for asthma are indoor allergens like house dust in beds, carpets, etc, outside allergens, tobacco smoke, chemical irritants at work spots, air pollution, extreme emotional outbursts, etc.
Some of the symptoms of asthma are coughing, wheezing, chest tightness, etc.
the diagnosis of asthma in children is very tough as the symptoms are similar to other diseases that occur in them.
Stress-induced asthma is now common in children, software professionals, etc.
As per the WHO report, By 2025, there will be 100 million cases more in asthma than that is present now which is about 235 million.
Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA)
GINA is a medical guidelines organization that works with public health officials and health care professionals to reduce asthma prevalence, morbidity, and deaths.
GINA was formed in the year 1993 as a collaboration between WHO, National Institutes of Health, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
