30th April: International Jazz Day Celebrations 2019 Theme, Details, Aim, History

International Jazz Day is celebrated on 30th April every year around the world to unite people globally for the sake of Jazz music genre.

International Jazz Day aims to promote Jazz music education and encourages the participation of people in music all over the world.

International Jazz Day was first declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2011 to promote jazz music and its diplomatic role of uniting people around the world.

International Jazz Day was formally recognized by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on its official calendar in December 2012. It is chaired by Audrey Azoulay, Director general of the UNESCO along with UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Herbert Jeffrey Hancock.

Hancock is an American pianist, keyboardist, bandleader, composer, and actor.

International Jazz Day-2019 was launched in Australia. As a part of the celebrations on 29 and 30 April, community service initiatives, education programmes and a wide range of jazz performances were presented in partnership with the Melbourne Conservatorium, University of Melbourne, featuring more than a dozen celebrated jazz masters.

international Jazz Day-2019 celebrations events will finally end in an All-Star Global Concert at the Melbourne Arts Centre’s renowned Hamer Hall.
