30 March: World Idli Day 2019 Celebrations Details, Aim, Significance, History

 World Idli Day is celebrated on 30th March every year around the world to mark its significance as the safest & healthiest food for all age groups.

 World Idli Day was first celebrated three years back, in the year 2016 initiated by Mallipoo Idly, a popular chain in Tamil Nadu, India.

In India, an app-based food aggregator 'Uber Eats' in its 2019 survey reported that Idli is mostly consumed in Bengaluru and then followed by Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, and Hyderabad. 

Idli is chiefly taken as a breakfast meal and regarded as a healthiest and no-calorie food.

In abroad, the demands for Idli comes from San Francisco, London, and New Jersey. 

As per reports, on World Idli Day, one who place orders for idlis via online platforms like Swiggy, Zomato and Uber Eats can avail heavy discounts on this occasion.

IDLI

Idli is a type of savory rice cake popular as breakfast foods in southern India and northern Sri Lanka. The cakes are made by steaming a batter consisting of fermented black lentils (de-husked) and rice.

People love to eat different types of idli in different cities like Mumbai to Vege masala and Rice idli in Chennai, Masala Idli in Hyderabad and Delhi. Idlis are mostly eaten with coconut & chili chutneys.

Idli contains just 40-50 calories, which is a minimal amount in comparison to a healthy 2,000-calorie daily diet. Idlis contain no fat, no saturated fat and no cholesterol and are fit for weight loss.
