World Oral Health Day is observed every year on 20th March around the world to mark the benefits of a healthy mouth and to spread & enhance awareness about the problems of oral health and the importance of oral hygiene.
World Oral Health Day was first introduced by the FDI World Dental Federation on 20th March 2013.
World Oral Health Day-2019 theme is ‘Say Ahh’- Act on Mouth Health’. The theme calls on every individual to take tangible action to protect their oral health and take care of their health.
World Oral Health Day-2018 theme ‘Say Ahh’ is a phrase that dentist often use at oral check-ups. With this theme, people around the world are believed to join the campaign in large numbers develop a better understanding of oral mouth hygiene and overall health.
Oral Health has a great significance over overall health. As mouth is full of bacteria thus, it is necessary to maintain proper mouth hygiene such as healthy eating, drinking and brushing habits which helps bacteria level under control.
Bad oral health may lead to various infections & diseases such as bad breath, tooth decay or gum disease. It can also result in severe health diseases such as Cardiovascular disease, Lung disease, Alzheimer's disease, Diabetes etc.
Maintaining good oral health requires a lot of personal efforts such as Brushing teeth properly twice (day/night), Dental check-ups every 6 months, Following dental tips, good eating and drinking habits etc.
