Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Pramod Sawan sworn-in as the new 11th chief minister of Goa following the demise of CM Manohar Parrikar.
Pramod Sawan took the oath of office and secrecy in presence of Goa Governor Mridula Sinha along with 11 other ministers
Pramod Sawant holds Bachelors degree in Ayurvedic Medicine and has completed his post-graduation studies in Medico-Legal System and also did his masters in social work. He Sawant plunged into politics in 2008.
Pramod Sawant was elected as speaker after the 2017 polls. He was the youngest speaker from among all state legislative assemblies at that time.
Former Goa Chief Minister and former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, who had been suffering from cancer, passed away in Panaji on 17th March 2019 at the age of 63 years.
