Heart of Asia Conference begins in Amritsar, PM Narendra Modi President of Afghanistan joins
Heart of Asia Conference 2016 takes place in Amritsar, Punjab today, December 4 seeing the participation of over 8 foreign ministers and other dignitaries of 40 participating countries.
PM Narendra Modi and Ashraf Ghani, President of Afghanistan jointly inaugurate the ministerial deliberations of Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process Conference.
Sartaj Aziz, Pakistan PM's advisor also attends the conference
Sartaj Aziz, Pakistan Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs also attends the conference and asserts that it’s a good opportunity to defuse the tensions between India and Pakistan.
The conference commences with stress on confronting with terror attack on Nagrota Army base and heightened stiffness between India and Pakistan.
The preceding HoA process had Pakistan in chair with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj attending it where both sides announced resumption of Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue (CBD), which never took off due to terror strikes, including Pathankot attack by Pakistan –based elements.
