IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman Profile, Early Life, Achievements
Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman (34-year-old)hails from Thirupanamoor village of Tamil Nadu.
Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman is a graduate of the National Defence Academy (NDA). He was first commissioned as a fighter pilot in 2004.
Wing Commander Abhinandan is serving IAF for the past fifteen years, he was an efficient Sukhoi-30 fighter pilot officer. He was promoted to Wing Commander and was assigned to the Mi-21 Bison squadron.
Wing Commander Abhinandan was trained at the IAF centers of Bathinda and Halwara.
Wing Commander Abhinandan belongs to a family of brave army men. He is the son of a decorated former fighter pilot Air Marshal Simhakutty Varthaman, who retired after serving as the Eastern Air Command Chief and participated in the 1999 Kargil conflict between India and Pakistan. His mother is a doctor.
Wing Commander Abhinandan is married to Tanvi Marwah, who is also a retired IAF Squadron Leader and has two children. His brother, too, serves, in the Indian Air Force.
Wing Commander Abhinandan took higher education from Sainik Welfare School, Amatavatinagar in Chennai. He is a reader and an outstanding speaker.
Wing Commander Abhinandan bravely destroyed PAKISTAN F-16 Fighter Jet while retaliation against PAK Air force with MiG-21 Bison Fighter Jet and was hit too on 27th February 2019. While ejection from MiG-21 Fighter Plane he fell into PoK and got captured by Pakistani Army.
Pakistan in return following Jeneva War Convention and extreme pressure by International communities and India-released Wing Commander Abhinandan on 1st March 2019.
