Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 24 February 2019, formally launched the implementation of Rs 75,000-crore Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
PM Narendra Modi on the occasion distributed installment of Rs 2,000 to over one crore farmers while implementing the Kisan scheme.
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme was announced in budget 2019. This scheme has been launched to help all small and marginal farmers.
PM Kisan Scheme aims to provide financial support in farming and meeting domestic needs. It will provide Rs 6,000 annually to farmers with less than 2 hectares of land, in three installments.
PM Modi also announced that in the coming years more 75000cr will be transferred to the accounts of farmers with 5acres and less.
The PM Kisan scheme was launched retrospectively from 1st December 2018, the first installment of Rs 2,000 is due within the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2019, a few weeks before the Lok Sabha polls.
