National Pollution Control day paying tribute to Bhopal Gas tragedy 1984

December 2 marks the National Pollution Control Day, paying honor to Bhopal Gas Tragedy of 1984.

The day pays the tribute and commemorates the thousands of humans who lost their lives because of the mishappening of 1984, thought out to be the world’s worst industrial disaster.

More than 5, 00,000 people were suspected to methyl isocyanate gas and other chemicals leaked from Union Carbide India Limited’s pesticide plant in Bhopal on the night of 2nd & 3rd December, 1984.

Government of India launches various kinds of acts, laws

The incident on spot killed 2,259 people, 8,000 to 10,000 people in next 72 hours and more than 25,000 people due to gas related diseases.

Indian Government launched variety of Acts like Water (Prevention &Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, Air(Prevention & Control of Pollution)Act of 1981 etc. and rules for control and prevention of pollution.
