India is now the world's 2nd largest consumer of LPG after Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana initiative of Modi government. It was announced in the Asia LPG Summit 219.
India's active LPG consumers have grown at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15 percent from 14.8 crores in 2014-15 to 22.4 crores in 2017-18.

The two-day summit with the theme ‘LPG –Energy for Life’ will deliberate over series of subjects including how India’s successful Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana can become a viable model for other countries to replicate particularly those striving to provide clean cooking fuel to its people.
The Asia LPG summit has been organized jointly by the major Indian oil marketing companies (OMCs) Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum together with the World LPG Association (WLPGA).
