National Youth Day 2019 Celebrations On 12 January: Theme, Aim, Significance, History

The National Youth Day is celebrated every year on 12 January to mark the birth anniversary of social reformer, philosopher, thinker and youth icon of India Swami Vivekananda.

The National Youth Day is also known as 'Yuva Diwas' this year in 2019, marks the 156th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Observance of the day aims to propagate the philosophy and the ideals of Swami Vivekananda for which he lived and worked. It will also help and act as a great source of inspiration for the Indian Youth.

The National Youth Day aims to create awareness amongst the people, a youth about the importance of Rights in India. This day makes people come closer and understand each other in performing the task properly.

The National Youth Day was declared first in 1984, by the Indian Government to celebrate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda i.e. 12 January. Since then from 1985, it is started celebrating as the National Youth Day all over the country. 

The National Youth Day is celebrated every year at many centres of Ramakrishna Math, Ramakrishna Mission and their branches with great enthusiasm and also at various schools, colleges in form of functions & competitions.
