Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, the senior most judge of the Supreme Court, was appointed as the new Chief Justice of Pakistan.
Justice Asif Saeed Khosa will succeed incumbent Chief Justice Saqib Nisar who will be retiring from service on 17th January 2019.
Justice Asif Saeed Khosa (64-years-old) has been a senior Justice of the Supreme Court since December 2016.
Justice Asif Saeed Khosa has also served as an advocate in the Lahore High Court and Supreme Court
Justice Asif Saeed Khosa acted as the Chief Justice of Pakistan from 5th June 2017 to June 11, 2017, 29th June 2017 to 5th July 2017, 14th May 2018 to 30th May 2018 and 17th December 2018 to 23rd December 2018.
He decided about fifty-five thousand cases over a period of more than nineteen and a half years so far
