Research find Ants communicate by exchanging fluid mouth to mouth

Research on ants suggests ants communicate by exchanging fluid from mouth to mouth

In a study it has been found that ants communicate by exchanging fluid from mouth to mouth.

The liquid exchanged contains proteins which can influence the development of their groups.

Ants exchange fluid, hormones and other small molecules from mouth of each other and this process is known as trophallaxis.

Ants feed larvae and transmit juvenile hormone

Earlier, researchers believed that the ants exchange food from mouth to mouth.

It was also found that when ants feed their larvae, they transfer growth promoting components to influence the next generation.

Ants also exchange a high level of juvenile hormone which helps in the growth and development of the ants.

Juvenile hormone also helps in reproduction, overall development of insects and also helps to survive in adulthood.
