Pakistan’s leg-spinner Yasir Shah became the fastest cricketer to take 200 Test wickets in just 33 Tests.
Yasir Shah with this feat, broke an 82-year-old record, beating Australian leg-spinner Clarrie Grimmett’s record of 36 Tests set against South Africa in Johannesburg in 1936.
Yasir Shah achieved this by taking New Zealand’s batsman Will Somerville wicket in Abu Dhabi.
Yasir Shah was also the fastest Pakistani to 50 wickets (nine Tests), reached 100 wickets in 17 Tests.
Yasir Shah (32-years-old) who hails from Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkwa is the cousin of Pakistani fast-bowler Junaid Khan as well as of Australian leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed.
Yasir Shah played his first international match in ODI series on Pakistan's tour of Zimbabwe, on 14 September 2011. Yasir Shah made his Test debut against Australia, who toured to UAE in 2014.
Till date, Yasir Shah has played 19 ODI matches in which he took 19 wickets with best bowling figure of 6/26.
