The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 7th December 2018, has approved the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between India and Japan in the field of environmental cooperation.
The MoC was signed on 29th October 2018 during the visit of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to Japan.
The MOU focuses on long-term cooperation between India and Japan in the field of environment protection and management of natural resources on the basis of equity, reciprocity and mutual benefits, taking into account the applicable laws and legal provisions in each country.
The MoC is believed to bring in the latest technologies and best practices suited for bringing about better environmental protection, better conservation, better management of climate change and biodiversity conservation.
